If you need… Better fit Reason and limit
On-device programming PetSafe Simply Feed Program and review the schedule on the feeder; there is no tag pairing step.
Timed dry meals plus restricted access PETLIBRO One RFID A meal schedule works with a dedicated collar tag. Check that your cat accepts the tag and how other pets behave when the bowl opens.
Up to 12 scheduled meals daily PetSafe Simply Feed Up to 12, with ⅛-cup increments and 15-minute time increments.
Use an implanted microchip for access control Choose a chip-controlled bowl PLAF301 requires its dedicated tag; PFD00-14574 programs meals without a pet-identity step.
Feed dry or semi-moist kibble PetSafe, if it fits the chute Maker lists pieces up to ¾ inch; portion fit still depends on kibble and assembly.
Place a scheduled dry-food feeder in an app-connected routine One RFID, with power/network caveats PLAF301 supports Wi-Fi/app, but battery-only connectivity is inconsistently described across maker sources.

Side-by-side features
Criterion PetSafe Simply Feed PFD00-14574 PETLIBRO One RFID PLAF301
Feeding mechanism Conveyor moves hopper food into an accessible bowl on a local programmed schedule. Scheduled dry-food dispenser paired with an RFID reader that unlocks the bowl lid for its tag.
Food and capacity Dry or semi-moist food; 24-cup hopper; pieces up to ¾ inch per manufacturer. Dry food only; 3 L (about 13 cups) hopper; compatible kibble 2–15 mm. Simply Feed's portion setting is volume-based; check serving mass with your chosen food if grams matter.
Identification Schedules food into an accessible bowl; no tag-pairing step. One dedicated collar tag per feeder; it does not read implanted microchips or other brands’ tags.
Schedule and portion Up to 12 meals/day; 15-minute time increments; ⅛-cup increments from ⅛ to 4 cups. Up to 10 personalized meals/snacks per day in current listing; schedule and amount managed with app.
Power and connection Four alkaline D cells; optional wall adapter sold separately. On-device controls; no app setup is listed in product instructions. Adapter plus three alkaline D-cell emergency backups; Wi-Fi/app. Current maker FAQ says Wi-Fi is disabled on batteries; its linked V0005 manual conflicts. Keep remote operation during battery-only use unconfirmed.
Slow feeding Slow Feed setting spreads qualifying scheduled meals over 15 minutes; it applies to meals above the ⅛-cup minimum. Choose this model for tag-controlled access; PetSafe documents the dedicated slow-dispense setting.
Cleaning Bowl, holder, lid and hopper are dishwasher-safe per PetSafe; hand-wash and dry the conveyor. Keep the base out of water. PETLIBRO lists the stainless-steel bowl as dishwasher-safe; keep the base, reader and tag dry and follow the model manual.
Routine and setup Prime conveyor after each refill; check belt assembly, time and schedule. Install the reader mat, pair its dedicated tag, and check tag acceptance and kibble fit; app/network setup adds a step.

PetSafe Simply Feed PFD00-14574: pros and tradeoffs

Consider it if a regular dry or semi-moist schedule is the main job, you prefer to enter settings on the feeder, or you need up to 12 daily meals. The removable hopper and bowl parts are dishwasher-safe according to PetSafe.

Tradeoffs: meal settings use cup increments; the conveyor needs priming and hand washing; and the feeder schedules food into an accessible bowl. If other pets share the room, watch how they approach the bowl at mealtime.

PETLIBRO One RFID PLAF301: pros and tradeoffs

Consider it if scheduled dry-food dispensing and selective tag access are both useful, and the cat will wear and approach the dedicated tag system.

Tradeoffs: tag and kibble compatibility narrow the fit; it uses Wi-Fi/app features; its documented meal count is lower than PetSafe’s; and current maker materials disagree about Wi-Fi on backup batteries.

Questions before buying

Is PetSafe Simply Feed more precise because it has smaller cup increments?

It lets you select ⅛-cup increments. Because kibble size and shape affect the amount delivered by volume, weigh a meal using the food and setting you plan to use if its mass matters. PetSafe also recommends priming the conveyor after refills. Programming · priming.

Can PETLIBRO One RFID use my cat’s implanted chip?

No. PLAF301’s current listing says it reads the dedicated collar tag, not implanted chips or other brands’ tags. Check whether your cat will use that tag before choosing it. PETLIBRO FAQ.

Which model supports semi-moist food?

PetSafe lists dry and semi-moist food for PFD00-14574, up to ¾-inch pieces. PETLIBRO lists PLAF301 for dry food only and specifies 2–15 mm kibble. Check the exact food shape and manufacturer guidance before filling either feeder. PetSafe product specs · PETLIBRO specs.

Does One RFID stay connected to Wi-Fi on backup batteries?

The sources conflict: PETLIBRO’s current web FAQ says Wi-Fi is disabled on battery-only power, while the linked V0005 manual says it remains enabled. Treat the batteries as emergency schedule backup and confirm the behavior for your unit before relying on app access. PETLIBRO product FAQ · V0005 manual.

Is PetSafe better for a multi-cat home?

If you need a schedule for food in a shared feeding area, PetSafe may fit. If each scheduled bowl should open for a particular tagged cat, One RFID adds that access step. For separate diets, plan stations and observe the cats’ behavior during meals.
