Choose the feeding task first. One RFID dispenses scheduled dry meals and grants entry to one dedicated collar tag. Standard SureFeed grants chip/tag access to food you serve yourself, including wet meals. Our comparison draws on manufacturer documents, separate independent household reviews and selected owner experiences. The SureFeed Connect is a separate product.

The differences that change daily use

Decision One RFID PLAF301 Standard SureFeed
Actual feeding job Scheduled dry-food hopper dispensing plus selective entry Access to manually served wet/dry food
Capacity meaning 3 L stored food 400 ml served meal
Identification Dedicated tag, one per feeder; no implanted-chip recognition Compatible implanted chip or supplied SureFlap RFID tag; up to 32 authorized identities share a bowl
Collar-averse cat Required tag can decide against it Chip compatibility and read position may make it a fit
Setup Assembly, required reader mat, PETLIBRO app/network and tag pairing Alkaline C cells, local registration and gradual training
Training Older independent review describes hold-open app familiarization; verify current modes Documented open stage then three increasing movement stages; supervise diet separation during training
Power Adapter; three alkaline D cells as emergency backup. Web FAQ/manual conflict on Wi-Fi Four alkaline C cells for normal operation; standard local workflow has no hub/app
Cleaning Stainless bowl alone dishwasher-safe; no immersion of electronics. Damp/wet-cloth base instructions conflict Bowls/mat/lid hand washing; wipe body and clean hoop sensors; no whole-unit immersion/dishwasher
Food theft Recognition and obstruction handling do not guarantee exclusion from an open bowl Shorter lid delay/rear cover may address specific opportunities, without universal protection
Supplies Compatible desiccant every 14 days, replacement tag if needed, backup cells; optional Care Alkaline cells, optional rear cover/bowls/tags
Current buying evidence $149.99 headline on configurable page; exact variant/stock unresolved, structured price null Chewy standard one-count $199, marked In Stock on October 9; listing level, before tax
Owner context 3 selected contributors in 2 threads; early/revision-unknown units 4 selected contributors in 2 threads; explicit standard/base, often accessorized

The 3 L hopper stores food for later dispensing; the 400 ml bowl holds a meal already served. Their capacities describe different jobs. Access memory likewise differs from portion control: up to 32 authorized SureFeed identities can share its bowl, but the feeder cannot allocate a separate diet to each pet. Collar acceptance and training

Shortlist One RFID when scheduled dry meals and selective access are both necessary and your cat accepts its required tag. Its reader mat, paired tag and connected setup are parts of that routine. Shortlist standard SureFeed when you want access protection for a meal you serve, especially if a compatible implanted chip avoids a collar.

SureFeed documents an initially open training stage followed by three stages of increasing lid movement. During open training, supervise the animals whose meals must remain separate. Kate Barrington’s 2024 One RFID household review describes hold-open familiarization; verify the current app’s controls for the unit you buy. SureFeed manual · Barrington’s review

If the challenge is only meal timing, access hardware may be unnecessary. If it is a determined pet sharing an already open bowl, observe that interaction before relying on either mechanism. Recognizing the authorized pet and stopping another pet from reaching its food are separate requirements. SureFeed’s optional rear cover and lid delay settings may address particular opportunities; they do not guarantee every household’s result.

Power and care: two conflicts worth checking

PETLIBRO’s web support says One RFID battery-only operation keeps basic scheduled feeding but loses internet access. The current linked PLAF301 V0005 manual, printed page 16, instead lists Wi-Fi among enabled battery functions. Keep mains power as the normal setup and confirm current hardware/firmware if remote operation during an outage is essential. No outage runtime is established. Standard SureFeed uses four alkaline C cells for normal local operation; its advertised six-month endurance is a manufacturer estimate. PETLIBRO web support · Current linked manual · SureFeed manual

The One RFID stainless bowl alone has documented dishwasher permission. Its manual allows a soft damp cloth on the base, while live web cleaning guidance excludes wet-cloth cleaning of the electronic base, reader and tag. Avoid immersion and obtain exact-unit guidance before applying disputed moisture advice. SureFeed’s bowl, mat and lid require hand washing; wipe its body and keep the hoop sensors clean. Wet-food suitability does not establish refrigeration or an unattended storage duration. PETLIBRO care · SureFeed care

What the reviews and selected owners contribute

Barrington’s One RFID review reported kibble-shape sensitivity and consistent tag reading. Liz Coleman’s 2023 standard SureFeed review described successful graduated training and harder wet-food cleanup around crevices. They observed different households and earlier units; their experiences support practical questions rather than a comparative reliability result. One RFID review · Coleman’s SureFeed review

The selected owner collection includes three distinct One RFID contributors and four explicit standard/base SureFeed contributors, each from two threads. They report useful routines alongside tag/lid concerns or extra accessory needs. The samples are small, unequal, self-selected and often revision-unknown; they do not establish satisfaction rates, theft resistance or a measured winner. Their attributed passages and source links are in the One RFID profile and SureFeed profile.

Compare the complete setup cost

Offers were checked October 9, 2026. SureFeed’s standard one-count Chewy listing showed $199 and In Stock, before tax or checkout. One RFID’s configurable page showed a $149.99 headline, but the exact selected package and stock could not be resolved; its structured offer therefore uses Check price. Comparing those numbers alone would skip station count and accessories. SureFeed listing · One RFID listing

One RFID adds compatible desiccant every 14 days, backup cells, replacement tags if needed and optional Care plans. SureFeed adds normal-use cells and any rear cover, bowls or extra tags your arrangement requires. Current complete app entitlements and defensible annual totals remain unresolved. Choose the job and household fit first, then price the exact number of stations and supplies.
