Short answer: For an unusually noisy original PETLIBRO Dockstream, check the exact model, water level and assembly before buying a replacement pump. PETLIBRO’s noise guide covers PLWF005, PLWF115 and PLWF105. Start with the matching support sequence below.
These instructions are not a Dockstream 2 repair guide. “Dockstream” appears on several different products. Read the model label before following a video or ordering a pump; similar product names do not establish that parts or procedures are interchangeable.
First, describe when the noise happens
In an owner discussion about the PLWF115, the reported noise started with a replacement pump block. Another owner described a similar experience. This makes a useful troubleshooting question: did the sound begin after a part change, after cleaning, or as the water level fell? It does not show how often the issue occurs across all Dockstream fountains.
Make a short recording before disassembly. Include the water level, the model label and whether water is flowing normally. Keep that recording private if it shows your home or identifying details; support mainly needs the sound and setup.
| When you notice it | First check | Useful comparison |
|---|---|---|
| After cleaning and rebuilding | Assembly order and pipe alignment | Before and after correct reassembly |
| As water gets low | Actual level against the tank marks | Sound after a correct refill |
| Dropping or draining from the upper tray | Tray and filter-box fit | Whether the tray retains water |
| After a replacement pump | Model and replacement-part identity | Old versus new part information |
| Alongside poor or absent flow | Exact-model no-flow guidance | Power mode, flow and indicator state |
Check the original model, not just the name
PETLIBRO’s fountain support directory distinguishes the original Wireless Pump PLWF005, Cordless PLWF115 and Smart PLWF105 from Dockstream 2 PLWF106 and PLWF116. This article’s repair scope stops at the original three models.
For a replacement-part question, send support both labels: the fountain’s and the part’s packaging. “Compatible with Dockstream” is less useful than the specific model numbers. If your label says PLWF106 or PLWF116, use the Dockstream 2 section of the directory instead of adapting the steps below.
Rebuild the water path carefully
PETLIBRO’s original Dockstream noise guide calls for checking the pump rotor and shaft, then reassembling the pump, pipe, tray, filter, filter lid and spout in sequence. It specifically warns against fitting the filter lid early or squeezing the water pipe.
For a dropping sound, the same guide checks whether the tray retains water. Its integrated filter box should not be pulled apart; identify the removable filter lid from the illustrations.
Do one check at a time and note the result. If a rebuild changes the sound, that is useful information; it is not proof that every noise comes from assembly.
If flow is poor too, use the matching fault guide
For the PLWF115 Cordless, PETLIBRO’s no-flow support page separately covers power, pipe obstruction and rotor condition. Its used-unit checks include inspecting for a damaged or stuck rotor and cleaning the shaft and magnet rotor.
Switch off and disconnect power before taking parts apart, and follow the model’s manual for cleaning. Keep another clean drinking-water source available while troubleshooting. If the part is damaged, or correct reassembly and maintenance do not resolve the problem, ask support for the next step rather than modifying it.
Send support a before-and-after comparison
A useful message includes the model, purchase or replacement date, a short sound recording and the checks completed. Say whether the noise existed before cleaning or only appeared afterward. Include whether the pump still moves water. That is more informative than “the fountain is loud,” and avoids a string of speculative part purchases.
For general care, our dishwasher-safe parts guide explains why cleaning instructions must stay model-specific. If the main problem is a slippery coating instead of noise, start with our slimy fountain checklist.
Quick questions
Does a noisy pump always need replacement? Not necessarily. The official noise guide starts with assembly, rotor and water checks. Persistent noise still deserves a support assessment.
Can I use Dockstream 2 instructions? Only for the matching Dockstream 2 model. Confirm the label first.
Will changing the filter definitely fix it? No. Treat the filter as one part of the documented water path, not a guaranteed cure.
